rainstorm

the wind bellows its deafening scream,

drowning out all other sound.

and with its hands it claws at us

never seeming to miss a victim.

and from its power sends forth the rain,

speedy, dazzling, lethal rain

down towards us like crystalline bullets,

and together creates a newborn ocean.

and i, the victim

the naive, pathetic victim

who expected a warm summer night,

is greeted with

hair stuck to my cheeks

and ruined, soggy shoes.
